SURETE BASICS

  • Surete is a patent pending app and device combo which is designed to eliminate distracted driving. As a Surete driver approaches a vehicle enabled with the Surete device, the Surete device will sync with the Surete app and ask for permission to start the car. The app will then contact the Surete server to ensure that the particular driver in question is actually allowed to start the vehicle. Once confirmation is received, the device will allow the driver to start the car.  If the driver is not allowed to start the vehicle or if the device does not detect the Surete app, the vehicle will not start. The best part is that all of this is completely seamless to the user and only takes seconds.
Surete charges a Monthly fee depending on the app version that you subscribe to and a one time fee for the devices that are needed for each car. Each device costs $75 and the monthly fee is $5 for a premium subscription which provides access to a single user with a single vehicle or $10 for a family plan which will allow up to 6 users with 6 vehicles.
No, once the vehicle has started, the Surete app will automatically lock the phone and the driver will not be able to bypass, turn off or disconnect the Surete app.
Yes, Surete will enable users to call 911 at all times.
The driver’s phone running out of power or shutting off while the vehicle is in motion will not affect the operation of the vehicle. Since the Surete device is only connected to the vehicle’s starter, it will not have the ability to turn the car off or otherwise affect the operation of the vehicle.

APPLICATIONS

As the admin for the device you can choose whether or not the user has the music function enabled on their phone. If this is something the admin choses to have enabled, the user can play playlists that are already created but they will not be able to surf music options or access internet based music apps.

PREMIUM FUNCTIONALITY

Yes, Surete can be enabled with a preferred caller list of 5 contacts which will be able to contact the driver after Surete has locked the device.
Premium users with admin rights will be enabled to control what features each user is allowed to use through their Surete app.  Once their login credentials are submitted, the Surete app will automatically detect that they are an admin and enable the admin version of the app on their phone. Additional admins may be added at any time, but the original admin will be the first user that signs up.
Surete will provider Premium users with trip information which will include the location of the vehicle in real time, who drove the vehicle, how fast they drove, how far they drove and provide a detailed map of where the vehicle traveled.
Since the Surete device does not have a wireless antenna, it cannot notify the admin the moment it is removed. However, premium subscribers do have the ability to setup alerts if a device has not been detected within 48 hours.

SAFETY CONCERNS

Once the vehicle has started, the users phone will lock and they will not be able to turn off Bluetooth, dis-able the app or take most other measures that would bypass the app.
Yes, Surete works by restricting the vehicle’s ability to start, and not by restricting the vehicle’s ignition. This means that they will be able to plug their phone in to power it on. This will then enable the phone to sync with the car again and continue normal operations. In addition, if the driver is with a friend, they will also have the option of downloading the Surete app onto their friend's phone and login in with their credential. The new phone will then be enabled to sync with the vehicle and allow the user to start the vehicle.
Like losing your car keys, if the driver losses their phone they would no longer be able to start the car. Another authorized driver would have to be present to start the vehicle.  In addition, if the driver is with a friend, they will also have the option of downloading the Surete app onto their friend's phone and logining in with their credential. The new phone will then be enabled to sync with the vehicle and allow the user to start the vehicle.
If the user were to forget their phone, they would not be able to start the vehicle.  They would have to go back into their house or wherever they left their phone to collect it and sync it with the vehicle.

SURETE DEVICE

To install the Surete device you must replace the starter fuse for the vehicle (usually located in the fuse box next to the vehicle's battery) with the appropriate connector supplied with the Surete device and then connect the device to the vehicle's battery per the instructions. Total installation time should be approximately 5 mins.  For help finding your vehicles starter fuse, please contact Support@surete.co.
No, the Surete device simply plugs into the vehicle’s starter fuse, so there is no reason for it to affect the vehicle’s warranty.
The Surete device is connected via the vehicle’s starter fuse under the vehicle’s hood. This means that removing the device is not as simple as disconnecting car charger or USB port. In addition, device alerts may be enabled for premium subscribers to notify the admin when a device is not detected.
